MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission at Faith Baptist Church is to exalt the greatness of God and proclaim the salvation He provided to us through His Son and our Lord, Jesus Christ; to equip His people to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and His love throughout our community, our nation and the world.
PRINCIPLES OF FAITH
We affirm that the Holy Bible is God’s revelation to mankind, and that it is inspired by God, it is without error (in the original manuscripts), it is an accurate record of the history and future of mankind, and that it depicts the birth, life, death and resurrection of the Savior of all mankind, our Lord Jesus Christ, and is therefore the sole basis of our faith.
We regard the scriptures of the Holy Bible as authoritative in all matters of faith, practice and principle. The ordinances of the church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
POLITY AND RELATIONSHIPS
The government and the management of the affairs of this Church are vested in the body of believers who compose it. Persons duly received by the Church shall constitute the membership. All internal groups established and empowered by the Church shall report to and be accountable only to the Church, unless otherwise specified by Church action.
This Church is subject to the control of no other ecclesiastical body. Insofar as is practical, this church will cooperate with and support the Smith Baptist Association, The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.
We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s sex or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is sinful and offensive to God.
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the Church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, shall abide by and agree to this Statement on Marriage and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with scripture nor the doctrines of the Church.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
Faith Baptist Church is composed of persons who profess a personal faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, have received baptism in a church according to the New Testament, and actively follow the Lord Jesus Christ in discipleship.
The membership reserves the exclusive right to determine who shall be members of the church and the conditions of such membership. Any person may request membership in the church and be presented to the church at any regular church service in any of the following ways:
By profession of faith and a request for baptism according to the policies of the church.
By promise of a letter of recommendation from a Baptist church of like faith and order.
By statement of prior conversion experience and believer’s baptism by immersion.
